Bouncing Buddies and Calm it Canine have teamed up to bring you Flying Start Puppy School. Based at Henstridge Airfield, we'll be holding Puppy School, for a period of six weeks, beginning on Saturday 5th November 2016, ending with a special Graduation celebration!
Each week, we'll have guest speakers, covering a wide range of topics, from canine first aid and healthcare checks, to grooming skills and holistic treatments.
Basic training will be given in a fun and positive way to ensure both you and your puppy gain as much as possible.
Also included in Puppy School is a special session on child safety and introducing your dog to strangers. All too often we hear of children becoming injured by pets, so please do bring some little people along with you that week!
Whether they're your own, your grandchildren, nephews or nieces, involve them in this fun session to help spread the importance of child safety around dogs. We, with the help of our own children, will be teaching you the signs and warnings that could lead to a child being injured.
Dogs and children should hold a mutual respect for one another and can be the very best of friends if a few simple rules are followed!
Puppy School runs each Saturday, with two sessions a day. The first will be held at 2pm for younger puppies, new to their forever home. The second at 3.30pm for those slightly older puppies, who have perhaps joined their homes later on, or who need a bit of guidance to help them on their way in life.
Both sessions will be exactly the same (only tailored differently to apply to the puppy's age), with the speakers doing talks and/or demonstrations for both, so no one misses out!
Each week will run with the same format so everyone knows what to expect!
All owners and puppies are expected to arrive at least 5 minutes before the session to ensure we can squeeze as much in as possible.
You'll be meeting outdoors on a grassy area, so plenty of opportunity to get to know one another and for the pups to do their business before starting their lesson.
We'd like our Puppy School to be a fun and friendly place, for you to support each other and perhaps make some friends for life. You're all attending for the same reason, so don't feel embarrassed or put off attending, by your dog's behaviour. We're all in the same boat!
The airfield cafe will be open, serving a variety of food, drink and snacks, so please do make the most of that while you're there. The perfect spot to park partners in if they don't want to participate, to watch the aircraft whilst us puppy people have a good old giggle about our naughty puppies! You could even arrive early and have lunch before the session!
Puppy School places are limited, so please do book with us to ensure we have space for you all. The sessions will be held inside a spacious marquee so please be aware that as the weeks progress, it may get a little chilly, so wrap up and feel free to put a jacket on your pup too, no one will laugh, as we'll all be doing it!
We'll have tea and coffee on hand to warm you up but once we get into chasing around puppies, I think we'll all be breaking into a sweat!
